What a unique book. Goldilocks and the Tree Bears told by way of Jane Eyre with a lot of interesting social commentary. If I could I'd give this a 4.5, because though I wasn't totally blown away by it, I was entirely captivated through the whole book - similarly to when I read Jane Eyre or Austen. As in, I am sort of pretty sure I know what's going to happen but HOW IS IT GOING TO HAPPEN. And the way that Coville just smoothly slips in so many fairytales through the book, just weaving it in like so many threads is absolutely masterclass. It just made the whole experience really delightful, and I'm glad I took the recommendation to pick this book up because it was so worth it.
